there's SOO many more meal options out there than 2nd rate meat that has probably lived an unhappy life and produces an inferior meal too. We don't have to settle for it.

Give me 2nd rate meat any day rather than a Linda McCartney cardboard meal............._pale_
What if the Hokey Pokey really is what it's all about !!!

These packs are actually quite nice, and I am fussy when it comes to meat.

Very low quality meat, but then if you are on a tight budget you are probably used to that anyway.

Do you think that a vegetarian frozen ready meal is the only alternative to crap meat?

Personally i couldn't care less whether the chicken i'm eating has had a life of luxury or had 25 nervous breakdowns, 200 kids and 17 divorces.

All i care about is the actual meat content, therefore taste, and the price.

why does someone always have to mention that does it really matter as long as it tastes good? if they die of old age they wont be very nice
It does matter to some people, however I agree it is annoying that someone always has to mention this!

There are alternatives, eg butcher for local decent meat, buy good meat when its reduced to clear and freeze, less meat and more veg (not LMc fake meat stuff).
Ermutigung wirkt immer besser als Verurteilung.

It's like when someone points out a bargain in clothing, another person goes on and on about forced child labour, lack of trade union rights, and dangerous and cruel working conditions. Frickin spoilsorts!
  • Why is meat such a big issue? Before people accuse me of being a vegetarian I would like to point out that I do enjoy eating meat but as student on a low fat lifestyle (not diet!) I find it far more easier, cheaper, healthier and rewarding to eat meat less often and occasionally treat myself with something better quality, and yes when I do this I do try to buy freedom food or similar because I do care about the welfare of the animal when it was alive. There are plenty of cheap, balanced and nutritious meals which contain no meat at all, shock horror! Meat is not the only source of protein in the world.

I have had this type of conversation with a lot of people and it continues to surprise me that most people are very narrow minded, I wish people would be adventurous enough to try things that are different to their usual ways once in a while.
