end of year teacher collection turning into a nightmare!! help!!

Hi guys just wondering if anyone has experienced this. with my older two boys a member of the HSA (HOME School !!!) has arranged a collection for the class teacher and TA and it has been fine..nice pressies bought and a bouquet each. We live in cheshire, lots of 4 x 4 type mums who have no need to work and bit lost for something to do. My DD is just coming to the end of Nursery and as no one had volunteered to do a collection I stupidly did. the Teacher and Ta have been fab and have children themselves the same age so are in touch and also go beyond the call of duty....Her teacher is also leaving to have a baby. I also decided to send an invite out to the class for a party on the last day, as my friend owns a soft play and was giving us a discount. But I think I have stepped on the toes of the little cliche that stands out side slagging everyone off in a morning cos the next day they were like ...you need to change the party day because loads of us can't do it because its our last artecise that day, and we wouldn't just buy for the class teacher and Ta but would do all 4 which is now 5 because they wanted to buy for the other nursery Teacher and 2 Tas in the other class!!! some of the other kids in the other nursery class want to come to the party too!! (cos they are their mates!!) but the place can't accomodate 52 children!! Turning out to be a mare because I looked into changing the party to a thursday but the ladies who have already paid wont it to stay to Friday and they only want to make a collection for our 2 not all 5. the problem is a lot of the ladies who have paid have hubbies who had been made redundant or taken pay cuts cos of the credit crunch so their is a contrast. I just said put in whatever you can afford...be it a token £1 or anything up to a tenner..I wasn't going to go round telling everyone who's put what in.... I'm a teacher myself by the way!!! Bit of an argument going on so I said to two of the mums this morning well you write a little note out or your two do a separate collection for the other 3 staff but they were having non of it!!! Ran away but were still moaning on the street corner. do I tell them to stuff it and do their own thing and take over or do I carry on with the lovely ladies who were grateful someone had volunteered and tell them to sort the other 3 staff out and children for the party!! I give up and just glad i'm not teaching in a well to do area. I worked in Dagenham and got some very lovely gifts parents who had hardly any money used to shock me with the things they would buy! Very generous souls!! Erm what to do please help!:rotfl:
Don't lead me into temptation I can find it myself! DFW LBM 03/11/08
