I had seen them and this put me off, like the idea of buying ink and paper in a pack.Reviews on amazon say ink lasts longer than paper. will have another look. maybe pop down to local; store to see in the flesh.

R300 is outstanding. After lots of research I got one and very pleased. The cheaper R200 is now available at around £50 and would be a good option too.
  • hanks for that, where can I get it for £50?

  • I bought my dad a canon smartbase 360. Its an all in one, printer, scanner, copier and also prints pictures. I went for this one cause the ink is cheap!

The replacement (third party) ink tanks are less than £2 each on ebuyer. I think maybe about £4 for colour (sorry can't check cause the site is down).

I printed a borderless picture on 4x6 glossy paper and was amazed at the quality. Looks just like a real photo.

The printer was £80 but might of come down in the sales.
  • currys and dixons both £84.97 on epson R300 printer
    stay lucky!

What will the picture quality be like in a few months time ??

This is what puts me off getting one. I don't want to have to be messing about with it to keep the print quality up, just like I have to do with my printer. :-/

I use my printer now for text only stuff, and goto Tesco for the pictures. :)

Don't forget, if the picture doesn't come out good, they dont make you buy it, they ask if you want to enhance the picture then try again, this way you dont lose all that ink. and the picture are dirt cheap anyway. ;D

Plus, somebody else has to make sure the print quality is good. ;)

I have also been looking into these little jobbies, the picture mate turn out to cost 31p per picture. Dell do a similiar printer which also has kits eg ink & paper when brought in 3's pictures are 26.5p each, purchased singulary pictures cost 29.5p each. This is absolutely fantastic value for money for small runs of pictures at a time.

If you know that you want to print off lots of pictures you will still be better sending directly to a digital photo lab with prices in the region of 15p per 40 pictures. If you use alternate labs you can also exploit the many free prints offers.
