OH's talking of going on holiday once his internship is up - middle September IIRC..
does anyone know Vegas very well? I'd LOVE to go either there or Chicago or New York and he's suggesting the States... anyone recommend/defer me from any of them? Flights from Southampton are cheap too! To Vegas, in September, is about 400 a person, which I don't think is that bad considering the usual taxes from Southampton!

Only been to New York but absolutely loved it! Went from Birmingham with Continental in September and that was £400 per person too. Only heard good things about the others too but I'd go back to New York any day!!
    2008: £783.12 - 2009: £6,401.15 - 2010: £4,230.61 - 2011: £8720 - 2012: £2,041.89
    2013: £134.96

he's always raving about New York (he's been) but we'd only be able to go for about 5 days or so, as neither of us have many free holiday days left :( plus I'm petrified at that long a flight (I hate heights and planes) :o I can see why NY appeals though.. hmm. Ta :)

I went for 5 days and fitted absolutley loads in!! Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, Helicopter flight, Bike Tour (really recommend that if you can cycle as you see loads!), Rockefeller centre, empire state, 3 bus tours, United Nations, Shopping, ground zero, went to grand central, guggenheim, MOMA, body works exhibition...

as long as you plan you can fit loads in (and out of those places NY is the shortest flight : )

ETA: in fact it wasn't even qquite 5 days, it was 5 nights with flight landing at 11am and departing at 7pm.

    brilliant :D
I'll get looking into it more then :)
personally, for some reason, the lights of Vegas appeal to me more than NY does (what can I say? I'm a gambler at heart ;) ) but would love to do both.. guess 3 days at one, 3 days at another and use an extra day might work.. hmm! :)

I'd love to got to vegas too but I decided on New York as couldn't go for too long and it was nearer. Not sure why but I really did love New York :) Went when the exchange rate was really good so it felt like great value for money :D Not that I'm trying to make you go there or anything  Then again if your OH has already been maybe he would prefer to go somewhere new. Anyway if you want any info/advice about NY I can try and help a bit as I did sooo much planning!

    Calash - great news :j
