Need some money saving advice guys I have work tomorrow but my carsharer has pulled out and my car is knackered, probs a headgasket problem. Got one meeting at 3:30 for an hour that isn't "essential", and nothing else for the workday, and I have a mobile mechanic coming at 6. I could technically get the train but this is an hour long and also involves 2 bus rides (and £13) :O and will mean I don't get in til about 7. (to drive it is over an hour each way and costs £15 per day including the severn bridge!).

How to get the day off?! :P anyone with good excuses let me know. I'd rather work from home because I am not ill, have a good track record with not taking days off sick, and have stuff to be getting on with, but surely "I can't get in because my carsharer isn't" sounds a bit lame?

Any gems of advice very much appreciated I'm useless with this stuff!

If you think they would let you work from home then just be honest, as long as it's not something that happens all the time!

back again had an accident and boy do i have a sore finger slipped on stairs and of course hand goes out to protect myself nail bent right back now have a finger minus a nail and it really hurts. Anyway if FE is about the vespa comp has a second prize of V tickets

blackmidnight - thanks for your reply.. yeah they probably would let me work from home. I tend to work from home 1 day a week anyway though and have already had Wednesday working from home so I don't want them to think I'm taking the p***! So difficult lol. if I can get my car back up and running for the w/e I can part ex it when I go to buy my new one though so will save me money there and will mean I will def. be back on the road on Monday.

Just had a cornbeef sandwich cut in two from two rounds of bread and a yoghurt Muller fruit corner strawberry flavour,love it.

Definitely be honest about it then, you could even say you won't work from home next week. And you can tell them you're getting a new car at the weekend so it won't be an issue again
