Deals on "oyster" tube cards

barginboyrob

hi, i was wondering, whether i should bother getting an oyster card for tube travel. Do they give much discount?, i will need a travel card on monday, wednesday and friday and i am a student.

Are the savings good with oyster cards and is there a special student offer or anything.

I remember seeing ages ago, someone "topping" up their oyster card with £20, and getting £30 worth of credit........does that happen all the time?

thanks!!

Get an Oyster Prepay card, which you can pick up from any LU station and top up with cash whenever you need to.

It's much cheaper than payig with cash in every situation on tube and bus, and there's no time limit on usage.

Details here http://www.tfl.gov.uk/tfl/fares-tickets/2006/oyster/general.asp

Oh and there are other offers too, like 2-4-1 cinema tickets - I think there are details on the TFL site.
