Hi,
Anybody any help or advise regarding trading in old game hardware for games or new hardware.
I have worn my old PS2 out (coming up with a disk error) and want to trade it in with Game or Gamestation.
Does anybody know what values I would get or if they would check the hardware before accepting it.
Thanks.

I would expect them to check the machine before taking it off you as they will be out of pocket when someon brings it back saying it doesnt work, you could take it in and it they test it just act stupid and surprised when the machine doesnt work.
On the other hand you could sell it on ebay as parts only as some poeple buy faulty machines to take bits out of0 -
As an ex GAME employee ...
a) They will definetly check the machine. This may only mean powering it up and seeing if it loads but that is more than your machine is capable of!
b) They won't take it off you at all if its broken.
Agreed with slowen, people pay enough for them on eBay because I think they are relatively easy to fix and resell - if you know how!0 -
These shops do a thorough check first as mentioned.
I would not trade in anything at Game especially. You get next to nothing for anything and then they bump the price right up and sell as preowned.
I know this as my son took in a fairly good ps2 game and was offered a couple of pound for it. When I went back to the shop to check they had the very same game in the very same condition for £12.97.
I was completely shocked a vowed never to let him do that again. Its better to be late in this life than early in the next one.

I have a recent issue with GAME anyway.
I spotted a Flight Sim add on the I wanted to buy in a GAME store at £29.99.
A couple of years ago I had bought software at a GAME outlet store at a straight discount, so I headed off to the outlet store a few miles away.
Sure enough, the add on was there on the shelf at a discount of £10.
That was £10 off the MRP of £39.99 to £29.99. You could get a further discount of 25% if you had a game to trade in. Not much use if you are not a regular customer or an under pressure parent.
Not quite the bargain they claim.0 -
Game currently have an Easter special one where they are giving 25% extra on all trade-ins, normally they are a bit poor and I normally sell my games on eBay but for the hassle the difference isn't massive.
I took advantage of the recent offer and traded in Tiger Woods and Champ Manager for the PSP got a nice £45 so can't complain, in comparison sold Fifa soccer on eBay and got £8, you do the math!2p off is still 2p off!0 -
Forgot to add still got Game Card points too as I got 2 new games and was left with a £10 gift card as well...2p off is still 2p off!0
