Mystery CCJ emerged while moving house... not much time to get resolved!

Hello, hope this is the right place to put this... I'm new to this board. Been really panicky all afternoon about this problem :(

My partner and I are due to be moving out of our flat on Monday, into a new home. When the credit checks came through recently, my partner was told he had an outstanding CCJ on his record from Dec 2006 for £100 exactly, through Northampton court.

He doesn't have a clue what it could be for. He had a debt for a mobile phone contact in 2003 that was settled with the provider, and has had a couple of traffic fines in the past but all have come through to the correct address and been paid. I can only think that since the amount is exactly £100, it might be another fine of some sort that wasn't sent to our new address. We moved in September 2006, three months before the date of the CCJ, but since his mum has always forwarded on his mail I'm not sure how this could have slipped through the net. As far as he is aware, he doesn't owe any money to anyone, and was never notified of a CCJ.

Originally our estate agents told us that the CCJ wasn't a problem, that as long as he got a guarantor, everything would be OK for us to move in. Having tried to call the court (Northampton) several times, each time not getting through, we resolved to sort it out after the move, and sent through guarantor papers to our agents. However we have just been called back today to say that the estate agents were misinformed by Homelet (a rent insurance company), and that having a guarantor is not enough, we need to either get the CCJ settled/disproved by Monday, or pay six months' rent upfront... which we absolutely cannot afford to do.

Have looked into getting an online credit check but since he has no bank account, we can't do this. I am painfully aware that we have very little time in which to get anything sorted. He is going to call the court from 8AM tomorrow and hope to get through to someone who can help. In the meantime, does anyone have any idea of a rough timescale of how quickly we would be able to get a CCJ settled or disproved? I am quite scared we will have to find somewhere else to live if we can't get this sorted out before we have to move out, which just isn't going to be do-able :(

Any help or insights would be hugely appreciated. Thanks.
