The multisave fraud!

I have noticed the price for an individual item seems to go up when it is offered in a multisave deal. This makes it really pricey to buy one which is real annoying if you only need one. It's a terrible waste of food as well.
Anyone noticed examples of this deceitful practice by the supermarkets?
Any good reasons why we can't just have good old straightforward % off promotions? Buy one get one!
