Legal fees for amending Deeds

I have been paying half the mortgage on my partner's property for years and now finally, I am going officially on the mortgage. However, we need to get the deeds changed first to recognise my interest and have been quoted around £1000 by a local solicitor. Is this the norm for changing the ownership deeds? I would appreciate any advice on this subject.

If it just to add you on the mortgage once you have been accepted by the mortgage company the sols fee to change the deeds should only be about £200.0

If it's a transfer of equity there's also a stamp duty liability (on the share of the property being transferred) - I was quoted £500 for the legal side plus stamp duty.Mortgage Free thanks to ill-health retirement0
