Four week wait??

I've decided to accept my endowment settlement, even though I don't make anything out of it (they will pay any early repayment fees from my mortgage lender if they arise - they won't). So I've sent in the forms accepting the deal - but now they tell me I'll get the money within 4 weeks! This seems outrageous to me - what will they be doing with it for all that time? Presumably enjoying the interest. Is there anything I can do?
