Fitness DVD Help

Hi everyone

Can anyone suggest a good fitness DVD for me to buy pls. There's just so many out there. I am not bothered about 'celebrity' just the fact that it offers a good, simple, easy to follow aerobic/stomach work out. Preferably one that offers a relatively short programme.

I normally go to the gym but over the summer hols won't be able to.

So looking forward to your recommendations.

Thanks.

i like the davina mccall dvds
  • Strictly Come Dancersize (the Karen Hardy and Erin Boag one) is great at first but can get a bit samey. I prefer Karen's routines to Erin's as she explains them much better.

I've also got Zoe Lucker's Little Black Dress Workout which again is fine but not brilliant.

My favourites are Tae Bo (which can be bought cheap from Amazon) who are mostly done by an American guy called Billy Blanks, and a Bollywood dance workout DVD I randomly found in HMV which is good exercise, and really, really good fun.
  • Hi guys!

Save me making a new thread - Mum and I are after a fitness DVd but something "gentle" - Mum had her knee replaced in Nov and still can't do a lot of the jumping around and bouncing about they often do!

    Any ideas?

Darcy Bussell has released Pilates DVDs in the past if that's the sort of thing you want? It's more toning than it is aerobic but apparently it helps with building up strength etc.

Ideally, we're wanting something to aid our weight loss. =/

The very best exercise video I have is the New York city ballet video. I think its available as a dvd, but not sure. The stomach section is fantastic and I think its the best all round video of all I own

I also like the Ministry of Sound dance ones (they are very could cardio workouts) toning wise there is a lot of emphasis on tums, bums, legs IMO, but arms get a good work out too.

For yoga, personally, despite the fairly..dated style, I think Babara Curries' dvds are very good.

Has anyone seen the dvd that was released at NY by the trainer who works with Madonna? I've been wndering whether to track it down. Now I'm interested in the Darcy Bussell ones too.

If that's the case, tae bo might be a decent option.

To be fair, they're about as un-gentle as exercise videos get, they're quite intense, but very effective.

If your mum's not able to do a lot of impact exercise on her knee, though, you're going to need something to work your upper body quite intensely to get an aerobic workout good enough to aid weight loss going on whilst remaining relatively still...Tae Bo might be quite good for that - there's a lot of punching and "speedbag" in it..If you ignore any kicking sections and punch instead, it will get you breathing good and hard.

There are also good stretching sections for flexibility and toning...

    Just a thought, anyway :)

New York City Ballet is available as a DVD: http://www.amazon.co.uk/New-York-City-Ballet-Complete/dp/B000HRMAR2/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1247068974&sr=1-1
There's a book as well actually.

Also links to Madonna's trainer's DVD (possibly): http://www.amazon.co.uk/Madonna-Gwyneths-Personal-Trainer-Anderson/dp/B001JT71B2/ref=pd_sim_d_h__3
