Abbey mortgage question

Our current mortgage is with Abbey and we've decided to stay with them when we move, we went through the application for the new amount last friday and were approved straight away without having to provide any further information :j
They told us once we received the paperwork, which has arrived this morning, then we can ring and give the go ahead for them to do the valuation. But after hearing lots about how slow they are I was just wondering if they are taking ages after the valuations are being done or is it just at the application stage?
Thankyou.

I guess the paperwork is the illustration etc. Once you give the go ahead I presume they will then pass the file to the underwriters which is where the nonsense starts.
If you experience delays tell them you are interested in their insurance products as this seems to speed things up. If you have to post anything to them send it recorded so you can prove they have received it. I've just now spoken to an underwriter who has post I emailed them on the 26th of June that they haven't even matched up with the file yet so expect some messing about.Happily an ex mortgage broker!0 -
Thank you for your reply,
I showed alot of interest in their insurances on Friday
, so hopefully that will go in our favour. They were on the phone 2.5hrs and I honestly thought I was going to lose the will to live, but if it means it will speed things up in the long run then its worth it. 0 -
Hi, I agreed a mortgage rate 3 weeks ago, the paperwork came to confirm yest the same day the valuation guy came. I rang today and they have posted the paperwork. I havent had any probs whatsoever with Abbey, they have fast tracked everything ready to start when ours ends. They also held the rate they promised after they increased their rates and the duration of the term so I am one happy bunny with Abbey.0
