Air conditioning unit

Hi,
Was thinking of getting ceiling blinds for my very big conservatory, but have decided in the end that the cost of this would be HUGE. It would all have to be bespoke sizes etc and not sure how good it would be at keeping the room cool in the summer anyway.
So, now decided on air conditioner. Had a look in the Argos catalogue and you can get one for about £199.00. I'd need a BTU 12000 as the conservatory must be approaching 30 metres square.
Anyone got any good advice about better deals out there at the moment? I am looking to buy sometime next week, as the weather is starting to warm the room up already!!!
Thanks,
Duncan

Hope its not bad form to bump this back to the top?
Does anyone have any advice? I have now been scared off air conditioning units a bit by a work colleague - very expensive to run apparently.
Would be interested to hear from anyone who has got one.
Thanks again.

I've had a stand alone unit in my lounge for the past 8 - 10 years, never noticed any dramatic effects on my electricity bill. I've found it very effective.
Having said that - putting one in a conservatory might be a bit like trying to empty the Atlantic Ocean with a tea spoon !
Other places worth looking are B & Q and Focus.
Two tips -
Get a proper vent outlet through a wall - don't just hang the pipe out of the window.
The condensate is great for steam irons.0 -
Thanks. Hmm, I starting to think I might be better just investing in three or four nice fans. I know that they just blow the hot air around, but sounds like they'd be cheaper than an air con unit. Also, am I right that I'd have to keep the windows and french doors shut whilst running the air con unit? (like in a car). That would be a bit poor on a lovely sunny day.
Very much indecisive about this one I must say.

Hi,
Try a ceiling fan.
Have had them abroad and seemed very good.

Yes, I thought about that, but the ones I've looked at are just a bit too big for the section they'd hang on, if that makes sense?
