Sorry I didn't explain very well!

If he does a spending diary it will take him at least a few weeks to see the results, then he'll have to find where he can cut back, and then it will take time for those savings to be available for debt. His debts need dealing with straightaway, not in a few weeks/couple of months when he's had time to make those adjustments.
Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.

No that's OK, I get you now!
Yes he will need to wait to see where his ash goes with a spending diary, but even 1 week can show you areas where overspend occurs, like coffees on the way to work, sweets/ chocolate/ chewing gum etc.

But yes he does need to deal with sorting out the debt repayment now - so I guess we both agree :T

Smartie I think you said earlier in this thread your parents are in their 70s - if either of them is 75 or over they are entitled to a free tv licence - not much in the grand scheme of things I know, but every little helps.
  • Thanks Jazza, they aren't quite 75+ yet, couple more years to go..............
Before you ask, yes, I work for a bank, but no, I didn't get a bonus!
