Home Delivery: Just Noticed Dodgy Meat

Hi
I have just defrosted two packs of turkey meat that Asda delivered on the 14th June, one sell by the 16th one pack the 18th. The older one is quite brown and some bits smell. Also they required a lot more trimming than usual - in total I have rejected about half a pack!
Should I send Asda an e-mail about this? Or is it really my fault for just shoving them straight in the freezer unchecked?
Asda obviously won't know how I have stored the meat in the intervening three weeks. I no longer have my delivery receipt and I don't want to keep the pack until I next visit Asda for hygiene reasons.

It wont hurt you to email them about it. Do you still have the email confirmation from the shop?[STRIKE]CC1: £354.35 / £354.35[/STRIKE]

I don't think so, assume that I could find the order number by logging into the website! As much as anything I wondered if I was being unreasonable ...Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0

If you froze it before it was on it's use-by date then it was possibly going off before you even bought it, did you freeze it in it's original packaging? I suppose you must have or you would have noticed it smelled when you took it out of the packaging. If it was already dodgy when you bought it and you froze it in good time for it's date, then you should definitely ask for a refund. I would!

Something similar happened to me (Extra Special Haddock = extra special food poisoning!)
I emailed Asda, letting them know their pre-packed fish had made myself & my hubby violently sick
I got a reply asking me to send them the barcode & the receipt so they could issue a refund for me, or take it into your local store.

Solution, get your refund and then cease to shop at Asda. I used to work for Asda (before uni) and we got sick of returning food back to them!!! It was nearly every other week that we had to return something, usually Chicken! We only buy food form Waitrose and only go to Asda for branded goods offers! I am not saying just go to Waitrose, you could always go to Sainsburys:beer:In My 'Permanant' Pre-Masters Gap Year

I froze it in the original packaging, within half an hour of receiving the order. I have now chucked the packaging and the manky meat, but could try to dig the receipt out from the recycling.
There is no Waitrose or Sainsbury here 'ooop North', I generally like Asda anyway. Thanks everyone.Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0
