my asda doesn't take coupons anymore. head office says yes, but they still refuse. i had been spending over £10 a week in coupons, which was great, but no more.
Rather than phone Asda head office write them a letter and take the reply with you when you go shopping. If the cashier still refuses demand to see the manager and give them proof that they should take it. My mum had the same problem a while back and as she could prove she was in the right she was allowed to use her vouchers. Then you could also complain about your treatment and get a good will gesture0 -
thanks for the replies. Spendless, my Asda used to take vouchers, but decided not to, I have phoned HO and emailed them till I'm blue in the face, but my store still won't accept them, unless you buy the product! :-[
I will do as scheming_gypsy says and write to HO. but i still don't hold out much hope about the offers.
At the mo I am very tired as I think I have blood poisoning from infected insect bites, (I have a rash, fever, flu-symptoms, aching muscles, tired, headaches etc)
so I'm off to the docs this avo. I have just phoned and paid for a 12month pre-payment certificate (cost us £91.80 and had to go on the credit card-to be paid off immediately next month!!), so i wont have to pay for anything I get *phew*!
I have finished the updated financial statement, which i will post here, and it looks much better!! ;D
i usually use one washing powder tablet, as i have a new machine, so i only use 2 on dirty clothes. i have had some Comfort freebies thru lately, which has helped!!
Re: DLA, i have applied and appealled but they still refused me. I have Manic Depression, which I will have for the rest of my life. It does make u spend (apparently), but now hubby is in charge of money so its not a problem. also I had an operation for Carpal Tunnel Syndrome in May, but it may well re-occur and I have lost some grip in my right hand. oh and i have had a bad back (sciatica) since pregnant with my eldest (nearly 11), as she laid low on my nerves in my pelvis and damaged some. god, writing it all down now makes me sound like a right state!! :obut i dont complain, i just get on with it, i guess cos im coping with it all, they decided i dont need help!! ???
anyway, i think i've covered all the points mentioned. i'm off to tesco.com to shop this week as i feel so grotty, but i'll post the updated financial statement straight after this post. and thanks again for everyones help & suggestions! ;DIf you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all

Hi again
Just looked thru your monthly expenditures.
Re phone: I know you've said you've had probs with landline but have you got best deal going on that so you only have to use mobile when house phone not working.
Shopping: There is a really good thread on marriage and relationship board called
Food Shopping for a family-ish
It's full of money-saving ideas.
Have you taken a look?
As I don't know how to do a link to this I'm going to say HELP
and ask someone to do it for me in order to help you.
Washing powder tablets:
As I don't use them I made a point of looking at the price compared to using powder.
And I still think tablets work out more expensive.
Perhaps you have areas like this on your shopping bill you could take a look at.
All the best0 -
Hi there
i think you may be able to get back the money for your season ticket or at least continue to get free or reduced rate nhs dental treatment/glasses etc.
Ask at the docs, chemist, dentist or post office for an application form for an HC2 certificate - this is a certificate of limited help given to those who only just miss out on the free ones.
DLA complete waste of time - husband has cardiac problems, IBS, rheumatiod arthritis and depression and he can't get it either!!
we are trying to get out of debt too and i think i can see light at the end of the tunnel
keep smiling and never give up
;D0 -
phones; im sure i said b4, my mobile is like a lifeline 2 me, so i can text my hubby when i feel bad. he also has a mobile. we're both on Vodafone smart step pay as u go. i rarely use my mobile for phone calls.
washing tablets, i buy persil non bio (i have sensitive skin) and for quite a while now i have been getting the boxes with so much extra free in. so i'm not sure that powder is cheaper-not just at the moment, anyway.
the worst thing is tumble dryer sheets. especially with the wet summer we've had! i wish someone would make a cheaper version of them.
no, i havent see n the Food Shopping for a family-ish post. i never seem to have enough time online for all i want to do!! ::)
oh i didnt know about the HC2 certificate, i shall certainly look into that, thanks. ;DIf you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all

Tumble dryer sheets
Try asking on money saving old style.
Cathy is a marvel on there and her or someone else may be able to help.0 -
I have managed to track down a thread about the tumble dryer sheets, including ways to make your own version! Hope this helps.

My daughter has excema, so I too buy Persil non bio, even though she has left home now - doh!! I used to find that tumble dryer sheets used to affect her excema, so I couldn't use them. Do you really need them, maybe a tiny bit of fabric conditioner would do the trick.0
