Recommend a good value grinder for flax seeds etc.?

Hi all,

Can anyone recommend a good grinder that I will be using on flax seeds and the like. I understand some seeds need to be grinded so that the body can utilise them properly.

Anyone do similar, any suggestions? Any good websites for cheap seeds?

Cheers for any help. Si

I got a cheap one at a carboot sale for £2 and it's been doing sterling work for four years!

I would just go for cheapest, I also use mine for nuts, coffee beans, breadcrumbs etc.

dont be tempted to try and use a hand coffee grinder it wont work .. she says from experience

i have a magic bullet one but they are quite expensive, any reasonable electric coffee bean grinder will prob do the job

Electric coffee grinders are rather small for doing decent quantities of flax, sunflower, pumpkin seeds etc, which I keep ground in tubs in the fridge for adding to my muesli. I bought a grinder called a Butler II from QVC but they don't do it any more. I've seen a Kenwood that looks quite good, on Amazon I think... not there any more.

This Marco Pierre White one is a good price now:

I bought one for a friend and broke it when I tested it - but, naughtily, I was trying to chop very firm Holland & Barrett dried dates, they totally clogged and jammed it, broke the motor. It's fine for seeds.

Thank you all for your replies.

veronarona, are you sure the food processor you linked to will do seeds. I have the kenwood mini chopper and it just stirs the seeds around !!

Think I will try a cheap one out first.

    Cheers for your help. Si

Yes it'll do seeds, Marco Pierre demo'd it on QVC him-very-self  It has an ice-blade too, so it must be tough.

I had thought of the Kenwood but then saw the reviews - it won't even chop herbs apparently - however do these things get onto the market?
