Yup Virgin megastore are at present clearing out their warehouses. They are selling cds for £3.99. A large number of titles to choose from in store all over the country. Not sure whether it's online too, but it's defo an in-store offer :j

Go to www.virginmegastore.co.uk for the online sale. CD's for under a fiver or less include Kylie, Dido, Queen, Stereophonics, Kasabian and Paul McCartney. Lots of bargainous DVD's as well! Double check you're getting the best deal by using a shopbot like Price Runner*.

A lot of the items in the online sale are cheaper at other online shops, eg:
24 season 1, 2 and 3 : £25.99 each at Virgin; £16.99 each at Sendit.com
The Wire, Season 1; £25.99 at Virgin; £21.97 at amazon.co.uk
Are in-store prices significantly lower than what's online?"The happiest of people don't necessarily have the
best of everything; they just make the best
of everything that comes along their way."

HMV seem to have wised up to online compitition whilst Virgin are still in the dark ages price wise.
To think these stores were set up by the guy who started his fortune selling albums a few bob cheaper than elsewhere by post.0 -

Yes. And there are more titles available. Basically, the stores are selling stock which has been sat in their warehouses for a long time, or titles which they have over stocked on ect... So, I suppose a lot depends on individual stores. But I've heard good reports from freinds I have all over the country. I think all the stores are getting a refit too, so cds ect need shifting.0 -
In my local Virgin, they have a bunch of obscure anime DVDs at £3.99 (and I thought I knew a bit about anime - this stuff is all new to me). More excitingly, they also have Classic Mario Bros and Metroid: Fusion for the GBA - also at £3.99. That's in Sutton, Surrey.0

There are definately bargains to be had.
Its worth checking out the games area.
I picked up Sid Meier's Pirates (XBOX) and Shadow the Hedgehog (XBOX) for £9.99 each. The former is around £18 cheapest online and the latter around £13 cheapest online.

That's generally what a "sale" is for.the_devil_made_me_do_it wrote:Basically, the stores are selling stock which has been sat in their warehouses for a long time, or titles which they have over stocked on ect...0 -

Great even if you wanna buy em cheap and sell em on ebay. There's quite a few rareities to be had amongst them all. I bought loadsa cds which individually would've cost me £15 up over for a cool £3.99 each.0
