Yes it's on the website as well.

    https://www.virginmegastores.co.uk

    CDs from 3.99
    DVDs from 4.99
    DVD boxsets from 9.99
    Games from 4.99
  • Dosen't appear to be as good as in-store sale. But thanks anyway :)
  • A lot of the items in the online sale are cheaper at other online shops, eg:
    24 season 1, 2 and 3 : £25.99 each at Virgin; £16.99 each at Sendit.com
The Wire, Season 1; £25.99 at Virgin; £21.97 at amazon.co.uk

Are in-store prices significantly lower than what's online?

HMV seem to have wised up to online compitition whilst Virgin are still in the dark ages price wise.
To think these stores were set up by the guy who started his fortune selling albums a few bob cheaper than elsewhere by post.

Yes. And there are more titles available. Basically, the stores are selling stock which has been sat in their warehouses for a long time, or titles which they have over stocked on ect... So, I suppose a lot depends on individual stores. But I've heard good reports from freinds I have all over the country. I think all the stores are getting a refit too, so cds ect need shifting.

Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker
In my local Virgin, they have a bunch of obscure anime DVDs at £3.99 (and I thought I knew a bit about anime - this stuff is all new to me). More excitingly, they also have Classic Mario Bros and Metroid: Fusion for the GBA - also at £3.99. That's in Sutton, Surrey.

There are definately bargains to be had.

Its worth checking out the games area.

I picked up Sid Meier's Pirates (XBOX) and Shadow the Hedgehog (XBOX) for £9.99 each. The former is around £18 cheapest online and the latter around £13 cheapest online.

That's generally what a "sale" is for.
  • yes, this seems to be happening iin virgin all across the country, where they are getting rid of stuff that just wasn't selling previously - all for £3.99!!!

must have spent about £50 in the past week, here's a rundown

best of REM - 1988-2003 (cd & dvd)
stone temple pilots - thank you (cd & dvd)
misfits - project 1950 (japanese import + bonus cd)
mansun - kleptomania (rare 3cd box set)
eagles of death metal - peace love death metal
eighties matchbox b-line disaster - horse of the dog
fhm presents - bar culture 2
dvd - 1980s fa cup final boxset (10 discs!!!)
    dvd - roxanne
    dvd - rocky & bullwinkle & friends (season 1 - 4 discs)
game - pc: world championship snooker 2004
game - pc: sim city 4 (deluxe edition)

plenty of other great stuff in there - i'm sure i missed out on some bargains by being a day late for the dvd sales - happy hunting!
  • Great even if you wanna buy em cheap and sell em on ebay. There's quite a few rareities to be had amongst them all. I bought loadsa cds which individually would've cost me £15 up over for a cool £3.99 each.
