Hello all
I bought some plantains today for the first time and intend to cook them in better and garlic in the frying pan. Is that the right/best way to cook them pls? I love trying different types of fruit and veg and would value your input. Cheers:beer:

Hi :hello:
you can cook them a number of different ways....
you can
fry them on their own or with spices ie ginger, or garlic/ onions
boil them
bake them
steam them
I prefer to fry them when they are quiet ripe (as they are sweeter) in a pan of oil (I use quite alot of oil) and then blot the excess on kitchen towel.
I like to eat them with baked beans but you can add them to anything really.....:j Where there is a will there is a way - there is a way and I will find it :j0 -
ooh, sounds great, thanks for responding so quickly!!0

Best eaten when very ripe, black skin.
Slice lengthways, then across twice, so you end up with 6 pieces, fry in a mix of veg oil and butter. YUMMY.
We eat them with a fry up, great with fried eggs.
Watchyour fingers when peeling, cos they are much tougher than bananas.0
