We had a 6 hour power cut yesterday. Now I did all the right things and didn't open the fridge or freezer doors, but it made me wonder how long a power cut it would take to ruin the food inside. It doesn't mention this in the manual that came with the fridge/freezer. Any ideas?
Thanks

From past experience a full freezer with maybe a couple of Duvets thrown over it is safe for at least 24 hours. Just check that the contents havn't actually defrosted, short term - minus one is as good as minus 20.

Thanks. I had a bit of a Google and the consensus seem to be that for an upright freezer 8-12 hours is fine, so I should be OK.

I went on holiday once and came back after two weeks to find the freezer not working , water all over the floor and a terrible smell in the house. All the food had gone off. Luckily i managed to claim for all the food on the insurance. The forest would be very silent if no birds sang except for the birds that sang the best0
