Is this a good rate or should we fix again?

Hi,
Our fixed rate deal with the Halifax is coming to an end in September. The interest rate is 5.6%. It says in their letter that if we do nothing we will move onto their standard variable rate which is currently 3.5%. Obviously this is better, but I was wondering how it compares with the fixed rate deals that are out there at the moment. We have a financial advisor who said a couple of months ago to go onto the SVR. I just wondered if the market had changed much since then?
Thanks for any help!
