Buying plastic sleeves which ones!!

100 PLASTIC CD/DVD SLEEVES "100 MICRON" £1.94 + postage. I saw this on e-bay and wonder whether they are any good, there are so many to choose from? Can somebody help please. You can also get them at Tesco, paper sleeves for less than £2. I have just bought a 25 memorex spindle dvd-r at £7.49 at WHS Smith which I think is good value for money and need the plastic sleeves to protect the dvd. Thanks

  • 100 micron is fine, I assume they are just the clear plastic ones? Personally I prefer the ones with cloth in them http://svp.co.uk/products-solo.php?pid=313

Don't bother with the paper ones, they are useless.

7.49 for 25 is fine, but memorex are not that good generally. Check out these guys:

I've got two packets in front of me - a pack from the computer fairs branded as 'One-PRINT' that I was told were 100 microns and a pack of ones that are branded 'amps' and are 120 Microns that I got from SVP that I guess must be these ones http://svp.co.uk/products-solo.php?pid=312 (I got mine quite some time ago).

The 120 microns are a much superior product in my personal opinion, perhaps not quite as thick as the ones you get on the front of magazines with the freebie CD but not far off. The 'One-PRINT' alledged 100 microns are fine, I still use them, but are much flimsier.

Always use the SVP ones - cost about £1.50 from memory - now well into my second 100 pack.

Would'nt use any plastic sleeve for long term storing of CD/DVDs. From working in multimedia and DVD I have many companies who refuse to use them as they do scratch and the plastic interacts with the cd surface.

The material touching the DVD playing surface is cloth in the SVP ones we've enthused over.
