Worried about being accepted for Britannia Mortgage

Our application for a mortgage with Britannia is currently being processed. I was initially worried about being accepted as I have one late payment in the past year and went over my credit card limit a few months ago. both were just stupid mistakes. My husband has three late payments in the last year. I mentioned all of this to our mortgage adviser and she said she didn't see that they would be an issue. We passed the credit check 2 weeks ago and I thought everything was going fine.

Yesterday I got a call from them with a few queries, they asked about my late payment and I explained that I had been in hospital at the time. She added this information to te application. She also asked me to chase up my reference from my employer.

I'm now worried that they are now going to query my husbands late payments, which were in October, November and December last year. This was just after I had got out of hospital and things were really bad at home. I doubt Britannia are going to take this into consideration.

Surely if they were going to turn us down they wouldn't be chasing my employer reference? Does anybody have any experience of Britannia?

Still no news either way. I guess I will just have to keep my fingers crossed and wait...

    Hi,

I hope this goes ok for you, I am in the middle of a Britannia application myself. Apparently they are reviewing the forms we sent in on thursday, they did an Experian credit check on 30/06/09 and they have since sent out instructions to the surveyor so hopefully things are on track.

If you have passed the credit check then I'm sure they just want to check you have valid reasons for missing the payments. Please let us know how it goes.
