As usual, the Media numpties can't decide what they think. In the article you've posted here, they've written -

'This leaves little doubt, too, that the next move for interest rates will be upwards, from their present, 315-year low of 0.5 per cent. But with Britain’s recovery prospects still fraught with uncertainty, any such move remains a long way off, perhaps as far off as 2011.'

But wait. Go back two weeks and the Times are telling everyone -

'Bank plots when to light interest-rate fuse

In his Mansion House speech last week, Mervyn King evidenced that the ground is being prepared for a shift of policy'

    Yes, sure.

And the point of raising rates in present economic circumstances would be..?

You can look forward - how can we put this gently? - to a few more months' worth of 'BoE expected to hold... blah, blah'....

Don't get me wrong, I was merely pointing out the ridiculousness of the coverage in this area. Gotta fill those papers and webpages with something though haven't they

As far as I'm concerned they can stay where they are all the way to the end of my Lifetime Tracker ;)

Funnily enough, it's not stopping both savings and loan rates creeping up. I wonder why that is...

2011? No, the election has to be held by 2010.

IRs will be rising long before 2011.
