I am new to the mystery shopping thing and signed up with GFK for the cybershop. I originally said i would do a visit but all the briefing notes and test seemed so complicated that i then cancelled it. It just swamped me!
I didn't do this to be awkward, just because it seemed so difficult that i thought i would mess it up which is unfair to them as well. I am not behind the door, have a degree and am used to admin tasks.
I have now said i will do another one, an email one which isn't worth very much money. There are also loads of notes/dos and don'ts for this one as well (although not as many as the first). My thinking is "well if i mess this one up, its not worth that much money to me". Can anyone tell me, is it just the jargon and stuff that takes some getting used to. Once you have done a couple, does it get easier? Also they seem to want you to print alot of things out. Again, is this totally necessary for everything? I do want to try and get a bit of extra cash but if its going to be a total admin headache then perhaps its not worth it. Please can some of the regulars advise.

hi - to be honest they are one of my favourite companies! - you might have just got a complicated brief or maybe it is just learning curve for mystery shopping too. There are far worse companies out there!0

I have to agree Lily, i'm fairly new to this and have done two jobs with GFK. I thought their briefs, though long, gave you all the info you need to complete the jobs. I have also had briefs from other companies that are SO brief I didn't really know what to do!! So its swings and roundabouts I think
Also, I find it easier to print everything out so that I can have a finally check whilst i'm in the car and also so that I can scribble down some rough answers to the questionnaire once I have completed the job. I wouldn't say it's an admin headache at all, its all there to help you. :j0 -

Hi, you might want to post this on the "Mystery shopping thread" as i know that Gfk also do online surveys etc aswell....
Anyway my personal opinion is good, although when i first started with MS i felt overwhelmed with the amount of info i had to read for the amount of money you are being paid, but it does get easier after you have done a few.... Gfk are one of my favourites as they pay is better than most!!
Hope this helps!0 -

It's in the mystery shopping thread (oddly enough)
Don't forget that even if you do one mystery shopping job you'll need to register as self employed and complete a tax return at the end of the tax year.I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole
MSE Florida wedding .....no problem0 -
I found Gfk intimidating too!! I said I would do one then cancelled, still finding the courage to bite the bullet but am so scared of forgetting something!!0

I am glad someone else found it intimidating as well, not just me. It probably doesnt help that not only do i work full time but i have a 2nd job as well so am probably just a bit tired when i read it all through. Will see how this email thing goes.0

I was with gfk cybershop and had a good couple of years with them. Sadly at the end I found that I was unable to login when they moved to their new site and every time I requested a new password I was given ones that still would not work. I had to conclude that for some unknown reason they were messing me about. A shame really becuase they were good payers.0
