How can i now grill food?

My mother used to have a gas grill on her oven we recently had a new kitchen fitted with a built in oven like most built in ovens its a gas hob and electric oven,i know that electric ovens do have an element to grill food in them but its so disapointing compared to a flame grill,i have managed to cook sausages conventionally in the oven and they turn out not to bad but not nearly as good as grilled and bacon isnt half as good cooked in the microwave .
could anyone reccomend a way or a product that is good to cook/grill bacon etc for those inmy situation
please help

I use my George Foreman for bacon and sausages, can be bought pretty cheaply now and Tesco have their own version here...

Just use the electric grill that came with the oven, I don't understand the problem

So long as you preheat the grill it should be as good as gas. That's my only gripe about electric grills - you have to wait about 10 minutes for them to warm up (may not be quite that long, but seems like it when you're desperate for a bacon sarnie)

Unless there is a severe problem with your oven, grilling should be fine..just make sure you give it a few mins to preheat.

You have to wait ages for the grill on an electric oven to heat up and ages for it to cool down. I hate mine and always use a plug in version.

Nor do I. I've always had electric ovens and I've never found their grills difficult to use:confused:
  • Electic oven grills are rubbish. Yes you can preheat but the main problem is all the fat splashes up on to the element. Go use the oven later on in the day and it smokes/stinks the house out!

Get a George forman with removeable plates you can put in the dishwasher.
