Black Horse finance - rejected !

Hi,
can anyone help explain why, after checking that my experian rating is 999, I was rejected for finance on a £400 mountain bike !
I have had no other searches in the last 12 months EXCEPT that my wife had laser eye surgery 2 weeks ago and was successful in applying for 0%credit for £3500 over 3 years. She only earns approx. £6k p.a. and because we are 'associated' (joint account, mortgage, etc.) I fear that her debt to income ratio is now so high that it has somehow affected decisions made about myself ?!
Anything I can do e.g. settle her finance ASAP ?

Thanks in Anticipation

I doubt it is your wife tbh. What is your debt level like compared to your salary?

    Thanks for responding Stu.

My debt to income ratio is approx 4.7 to 1 and is all on the mortgage. We have a Woolwich mortgage that allows additional borrowing up to 90% LTV. We have used 4/5ths of this facility.
Is this too high and the cause of the problem do you think ?

    Cheers
