Bra extenders and underwires

Options
I have some lovely bras, which are comfy for the first 20 minutes. I wish they had a bit more give in the back and suddenly realised that I had seen an ad for bra extenders somewhere. Anyone tried them?

Talking about bras: I have a real gripe with underwires that come up too high at the sides. Has anyone ever had a go at shortening them or does it complete ruin the bra?

Hi, I got a pack of extenders from H & M for £2.99 for 3 ( black, white & neutral ) a few weeks ago & they have given many of my bra's a new lease of life.... Be careful though, if I remember rightly they also do a pack of 2 instead of 3 for the same price, & they were on the same hanger when I got mine....

If wires are coming too high it sounds like the bra is the wrong size. Might be worth getting fitted propely.
I find that wires work their way out after a while and I've never been able to repair the bra afterwards sufficiently to keep them in so I wouldn't think shortening wires would work as it would create a hole for the wires to find.
I have heard of people making bra extenders from an old bra but I've never tried this. If you could cobble one together to try it might give you an idea if the result was more comfortable before buying one and finding it didn't solve the problem. I guess you just cut the old fastenings off and sew them together so they will hook into the fastenings on the 'new' bra.

I am using extenders at the mo cos of being pregnant, and they are great. Always thought they were odd before but I'm converted now. You could easily make some from old bras - they are a few quid new.

I have made mine from old bras in the past. Worked very well.

Personally I'd second Oystercatcher on this one. Being of large bussom if my bra's are uncomfy I get myself measured, apparently you should get measured every 3-4 months anyway. Also if your bras are over 6 months old and have been machine washed this will also add to the uncomfyness. I suggest bravissimo (google for their website) for measuring as they are fab. I don't work for them but buy enough from them to keep the staff of my local branch in employment :-D !

Buy your bananas in bunches of 5 on Sunday. Then arrange them in order of ripeness and write a day of the week on each banana in felt pen, Monday on the ripest, Friday on the greenest to save time making those decisions on a hectic weekday morning

I used to spend a small fortune at Bravissimo etc £30+ a bra. Now I've discovered M&S range of larger sizes I haven't paid more than £15 for a bra for ages. The last lot were about £7 in the sale with quidco cashback too!
