The late payments were there WAY before 2008 when my credit rating was excellent (928). It has been excellent until recently...so why the RECENT and SUDDEN drop?
Sorry to be rude, but every time I use these forums people never seem to read the question and instead just post whatever comes into their heads first. I'm looking for specific thoughts:
Lots of missed payments in 2007, account settled in April 2008.
In May 2008, credit score was still excellent, all the way through to May 2009.
Then, score plummets from 'good' to 'poor'.
The ONLY people who can tell you are Experian...and they WILL tell you why. After all those late payments your score SHOULD have dropped quite a lot...not certain why it didnt. It's really easy to contact them and you can always speak to a real person who has access to your report in detail.
And the scores do matter, whatever anyone else says.0 -
oh, and it doesnt matter that the negative information was last year, or the year before that...it still counts against you
sad but true0 -
They could have changed their credit score calculator, perhaps late payments and defaults give you more negative scores than last time you checked.
Phone them, they are friendly and helpful.0 -
Friendly and helpfull?lol
these are credit agencies we are talking about!!you know the ones introduced via stealth 25 years ago through only 1 commissioners report!!!
They are only out for one thing PROFIT.
False info is RIFE just to get you to sign up after the free month.
No one oversees them, EVEN THE INFORMATION COMMISSIONERS OFFICE,fsa pass the buck to oft,who then pass you on to trading standards, who then pass you back to information commission!!a magic roundabout.
DID YOU KNOW anyone can start a credit agency!!just like anyone can start an estate agents without ANY qualifications WHATSOEVER.
Dont be brainwashed by these people, they are scum and leeches who ;prey on peoples misery of FALSE INFO.
The only thing left is call your mp.
BAN THEM ALL and go back to affordability i.e producing bank statements,rent/mortgage recipts ect0 -
Crikey! Quite a response!
I'm going to give them a call today.
In the past week I've had a good tidy up of my credit report - there were lots of duplicate searches and incorrect information on there that I've now corrected. Fingers crossed this makes some kind of difference.0 -

Hi,
I've read your whole post and so have various others and the answer remains the same.
The experian score means nothing, one day it may well be 100 and the next it could be 999 - it means nothing and you've been told that numerous times.
Therefore, to quote: 'Does anyone bother to read my original post?!' - the answer is a resounding YES but the question fired back is - are you reading our replies?
For the umpteenth time, The score matters not, therefore you keep mentioning that it dropped but as we're saying it means nothing - there is no explanation as it means zilch, nada, zero, so the reason it dropped also means zilch, nada, zero - i.e. accept it!
The only way you will know for sure is to apply somewhere but i'd not do that cos the late payments and default will stop you getting anything right now.
Sorry, but this is just the way it is.
