sticky label residue on shirt

OH bought a lilac coloured summer shirt at the weekend, when it was washed the brand label came off and has left a sticky residue on the shirt, how can I get this off please or how can I cover it up with something eg iron on double sided vylene with a thin bit of material
f it was a sticky label on a shoe I´d use WD40 or nail polish remover
