Bank overdraft charges

Which magazine are currently trying to stop banks from charging such exhorbitant charges for overdrafts and are trying to get people to claim back charges that have been made on their account.

If you go to http://www.which.net/campaigns/personalfinance/bankingcharges/index.html it will tell you all about it. Click on the red underlined part and it will take you to free downloadable letter to send to your bank asking for all charges over past six years to be listed then there's another link for a letter to send asking for the charges to be refunded. It's worth a try if nothing else.

Apologies if someone else has already posted this.

  • Hi Brightness. Tjhanks for your psot but the link does't work. Are you sure you posted it correctly? Will you check, please? Would love a copy of that letter.

Do you know if this ruling applies to all of Britain or just England?

Sorry, Vital Spark. I have now corrected it! I honestly don't know about the whole of UK - maybe you could contact Which and ask them?

Apparently, they are starting this campaign after the Office of Fair Trading reduced the charges for credit cards, saying they were unfair.

I sent a letter to my bank asking for all charges over last six years, yesterday. Wonder how long it will take them to reply.
