Taking holiday before leaving

Basically, I've got two jobs. One full time and one part time. The part-time job is getting too much with the other full-time job as it's at a cinema and I can be working upto 12.30am some days and have to be up at 7am for the other job.

I'm going to hold out the job for another month, but as I've been working there for 4 months, I've got around 15 days holiday. Now should I start taking this holiday now, so that I am basically getting paid for being off, before I quit, or is there some rule that you cannot take all of your holiday then quit a few weeks later...

The joys of being 18 and not knowing much about the working world.

Any input is appreciated! :)

You will be entitled to pro rata holiday. If you work one third of a year = one third of holiday entitlement.

When does the holiday year run from? From 1 January, 1 April, your start date or some other time? This will be in your written particulars your employer should have given you.

If, having given the required amount of notice, your last day of working will mean you will have worked there six months and all of that is in the current holiday year, then you will have accrued half the full amount of your holiday entitlement for the year.

Have you taken any holiday so far?

    15 days for 4 months sounds a lot, 45 days a year.

When you hand in your notice, if your employer want you to work your notice then they have to pay you for any outstanding holidays.

    What is your notice period?

An option is to negotiate by letting them know you are struggling and would like to come to some arrangement with notice and holidays and perhaps offer to fill in every now and then if they get stuck.

leave on very good terms and keep a future opportunity open

The notice period is 2 weeks. I'm not sure on the exact amount of holiday I have, but as it's a cinema, we get extra holiday for working bank holiday weekends and such, rather then time and half/double pay.
