Really embarrassing problem.
I've shampood my carpets, but I couldn't get them dried quick enough and now they smell, damp and musty. Can't afford to replace them and I have been over them 3 times now with the vax. Fabreeze not working. Anyone have any ideas on what I can do with them. Please help me!!! :wall:

what have you got under the carpet
the underlay for example may not be drying and causing the smell0 -
If it's not the underlay (most likely) and the carpet is now totally dry, you could try sprinkking it with bicarb, brush it in, leave it for a little then vacuum out. Make sure the carpet's dry though. An alternative, and I'm not sure how it would work, is get a product specifically for removing pet odours - those seem to get out every smell.

Ok, if you have washed them, the musty smell might well be coming from the underlay or the boards itself.
You could hire a dehumidifyer (sp?) to extract any damp from the room (and furnishings) and then, make your own "shake n vac" concoction from some bicarbonate of soda.

do have steam cleaner that you could use/borrow/hire?
the smell is prob caused by yukkies..spores/bacteria etc Steam cleaning should kill these off and hopefully their smell too.
good luck0
