Part Time Work Advice

I'm new to this site so wondered if anybody has any ideas as to where to look for PART TIME jobs in Edinburgh or Dundee. My daughter is at Uni in Dundee but looking for some work in either place. Have looked in some of the agency site with no luck.

  • have just mentioned this in a previous thread and again depending on what she wishes to do then id suggest giving local hospital recruitment a ring and seeing if they employ casual workers as care assistants or if they have a 'nurse bank'. Pay is good usually and she could pretty much choose her own shifts. If she'd be happy to that sort of work there are many nursing and care agencies that pay excellent rates of pay. Also maybe google NHS Professionals too. Its not for everybody but if she trys it she might like it and earn a bit as well

    Thanks slowandsteady for that.

As I say I'm new to this forum so have not followed any other threads.

My wife works in a hospital and this was the first thing we tried both here and in Dundee. My wife continually looks for her and my daughter looks on the NHS site. She has applied for a number of jobs but so far has not heard back from anyone.

I've signed up to a few sites that will email back when a job appears. So I have just got to keep looking.

Where does she live? I can't imagine any student would want to commute from Edinburgh to Dundee uni - either 1 hour in car or nearly £20 train fare each day. If she lives and studies in dundee why would she want to commute to Edinburgh for part time work?

If she is looking for part time work the avenues are the same as in every other area, the local paper has jobs advertised on a Friday, the job centre has lots of locations in the town centre or she could look online. If she fancies bar work, either go into the pubs and ask or check the local nightclub websites for vacancies. there are also loads of call centre opportunities in Dundee and students are a popular choice there.
If you always do what you have always done, you will always get what you always got!

She stays in a flat in Dundee. She has tried everywhere she can think of.

To get her out of the flat she now is doing voluntary work in a shop in Dundee centre. There would be no problem working in Edinburgh as she can stay with us on work day's and go back to Dundee when she finishes.

I think you should be looking for jobs that start in september eg shop work, theres bound to be students who wouldnt have got employment when they start in september,

Any job would be useful. Money is not the only concern for her she NEEDS to get out and meet new people. She has great flat mates but still needs to get out and about.
