    I had this the other way round when an American friend took a recipe book back to the States. She couldn’t buy coriander anywhere, until she realised that over there they use it for Mexican dishes and call it cilantro.

    I have similarly had to translate courgette and aubergine for American visitors (zucchini and egg plant).

    Just to point out that the OP asked for advice on cilantro over 12 years ago - 12th April 2006.
    I'm sure she's either recreated her traditional Canary Island sauce or given up.
    And it's unlikely she'll read this thread as she hasn't logged on for over 4 years.


    Just pointing it out to save people wasting their time giving advice.

    This is really easy to grow on your windowsill all year round and you can snip it and let it regrow a few times as well XXX
