Tax back for uniform cleaning

Hi

My company is introducing uniforms to the team which must be worn at all times, I vaquely remember from working in shops years ago that your employer had to give you some tax back/allowance for cleaning uniforms. Is this just wishful thinking on my behalf or is there such a thing?

thanks

Thanks Debtfree dreamer, i'll give it a go writing off to the tax office although I think I won't be eligible as by the looks of it it needs to have company logo on it which I don't think mine will but thanks

Excuse the cut and paste, I just posted this on the other thread:

The key things about a uniform are that you must be required to wear it. Logos etc don't necessarily matter but they help prove it is a uniform not some clothes that your employer gave you. If everyone you work with wears the same thing and it was provided by you employer it's pretty clear it's a uniform logos or not.

Standard rate of expense for a uniform from 08/09 is £60 in a year this will probably be about £12 in tax to you. Years previous to this are £45, about £9.90 in tax probably.

These rate apply to anyone who has a uniform so you can claim.
