Absolute bargain 50" HD TV £929!

Found this 50" Rear projection HD Ready DLP TV on dixons for £998. Theres a £50 off £600 voucher doing the rounds which im sure you know where to look for. Also 2% cashback via quidco. final price £929. Free delivery too!

This is an mega bargain, cannot find it anywhere near this price anywhere else. There selling the 46" version (although with stand) for over £1400!

Made sure I got my order in first before posting. Not a misprice I don't think. 8 on the end of the price suggests clearance line.

My brother bought the 46" version a few months ago for the £1400 price and is very hapy with it.

Not sure this is that cheap for a "rear projection TV" I purchased a 42" Plasma screen from Argos at £799 just before Christmas.

It's still cheap, even for a projection set. RRP is/was $3,999!

Trouble is, most people don't realise how big a 50" set is until they get it home. I've seen comments from people who bought a 50" plasma saying they wished they'd gone for the 42" instead. And DLPs are much bigger than flat screens.
    Can I help?

its not your bog standard rear projection which you can get for buttons, this is a DLP which instead of using 3 primary coloured bulbs and a reflector it has a LCD screen at the rear which is projected onto the larger screen thus giving you a much better if not perfect picture however the bulbs dont last and can cost over £300 to replace.
It is very similar to a LCD projector.

You can never have a screen big enough. They aren't that deep either.

sorry mate but you are getting your technologies mixed up. This is a DLP set which uses hundreds of tiny little mirrors and a colour wheel to create a picture which is subsequently projected onto the screen as opposed to an LCD rear projection which again doesn't involve multiple bulbs, especially not in the latest models which have 3 LCD panels (RGB) and one bulb. I believe you are referring to the CRT base RPTVs which had 3 CRTs creating an image for projection onto the screen and is deffinitely old hack.

There are numerous debates on the net about which method is better DLP or LCD. Only way to judge is view one for yourself as what is good for one person will not always go for another.
