LEMON ICE - Ice Cream

Anyone know where i can buy Lemon Ice ice cream from?
Have looked in a few shops, but can't find it anywhere.
I'm not talking about that pale Yellow Sorbet stuff (Yuk!) - i'm talking about real Lemon Ice like you get from the Ice Cream Van.

Thanks for all replies.

I have never seen this available to buy anywhere. Only thing I can suggest is to find an Ice Cream Van/Seller that sells it and see if they would order a tub for you.

I also love lemon ice-cream, and haven't been able to source it in tubs - but I have made my own, and its lovely.

I'm not great at making Desserts, but what are the ingredients?

At the top of East St, (Walworth Rd end) there was a kiosk that sold the most AMAZING vanilla & lemon ice-cream:drool::drool::drool::drool::drool:

Talked about it on here before, but can't remember if they said it was still there or not.

Anyway, the ice-cream they sold is made in Southend.

My BIL used to pick up a carton & deliver it, for a wealthy customer (London>Southend>London:eek::eek:).

    Aaah!!!!!
My sister goes down East Street, at least once a fortnight.
I'll ask her if it's still there & if they sell Lemon Ice.
    Thanks for that!

There are several ways of making it; I have an icecream maker so it makes life easy. But an easy and delicious recipe is:

    500ml double cream
    1 jar lemon curd
1 unwaxed (or scrubbed waxed) lemon + 1tsp sugar

remove zest from lemon and crush with 1 tsp sugar in a pestle and mortar (or just chop up tiny on a board)
    squeeze juice from lemon
stir lemon curd, juice and zest into cream

put in container, freeze till set, then eat

    yum!

(adjust lemon juice quantity to suit taste)

A whole jar of lemon curd isn't nearly as bad as a whole pot of cream :rotfl:

You could, I suppose make it half milk, half cream, but as my bum will tell you, I don't look at calories ;)

Well, i found out who makes it & phoned them........Rossi's Ice Cream http://www.rossiicecream.com/
But the lady i spoke to said they don't sell Lemon Ice in the Tubs, you can only get the Lemon Sorbet type in the tubs.
Plus their cash & carry is in Southend anyway.

    Oh well.
