Hello,
Could somebody explain the procedure for CSA payments ending when a child turns 19?
It's my son's birthday on 31st August, and I am just trying to prepare myself, as he will stay on a college to complete his nvq level 2, so I'll need to look into income support.
Many thanks

Why would you need to look into Income Support? If he is your youngest then you would get JSA and not I.S. unless you have carer responsibility or underlying health issues etc.
If you aren't working then you could apply for JSA now anyway unless you are getting more than about £80pw CM.
The case should simply be closed as soon after the date as possible but probably best to contact them ahead of time to forewarn them and to see what state the accounts are in so you do not get overpaid. (anything received after his 19th Bday may have to be returned unles there are arrears.)Nothing to see here :beer:0 -
Hi Cozworth,
This is the only child I receive CSA for, although I have a 14 year old, different father done a disappearing act!
Both are in receipt of DLA. Eldest get High Care, and younger get Middle. I get CA for the younger.
My CSA is £60 pw, and although I am tentatively looking for employment, I am not sure how my son can cope if I were not home on his non college days, so I would rather edge myself into a job.
