You've got to follow the complaints procedure first I believe before you can approach the ombudsman (who apparently often rules in the consumers favour).
Don't forget you can reclaim the bank charges and I think you may qualify under the hardship rule which means you wouldn't have to wait for the ruling in the high court - have a look at Martins article - not that that lets them off the hook for their actions at all regarding refinancing and the overdraft.
I am not sure you have a valid reason for complaining regarding the PPI although it should have been made clear whether voluntary redundancy would affect your claim (although I suspect it's in the small print somewhere).
I think there are lots of clubs you can join for free baby stuff/vouchers etc I think there is a Boots one and a Tesco one and lots of other websites and offers - have a look around the boards as it may save you a small fortune.

P.S your last remark is outrageous and I'm not sure that that's allowed either or asking for your finance details maybe you could put that in your complaint - they do seem to be trying to be completely useless.

I'm looking into the bank charges & PPI issue, it's worth a try with claiming both I suppose.
I was livid when she suggested my parents pay. She was like "oh so you get an extra £20 then". Er no, my mam might chuck some stuff into her shopping trolley for us. I'd hardly class it as income. It'll be going in the letter of complaint though for certain.

She also tried to imply that it could damage MY credit rating if we didn't pay which at the time I ignored as I know it's a pile of rubbish since we have no financial link but again it's going in the letter as surely it's against a code of conduct to use bullying/scare tactics like that.

    Hi Cat Girl

Firstly congratulations on your impending arrival and welcome to the we hate Lloyds club! Have you applied for a Maternity Grant? You may be entitled if you're on a low incaome.

I would complain to Lloyds, but don't expect to get much out of it, except the satisfaction that if Lloyds can send you crappy letters you can do the same back. I know it is easy to say, but don't worry or stress about Lloyds. As long as your partner is making an effort to pay there is really very little they can do.

Has you partner contacted the CCCS or National Debtline for advice?

I have been happily batting my head against a wall with Lloyds for 2 years now and nothing 'bad' has happened to us. Recently my hsuband was made redundant and I offered Lloyds £10 a month token payments. They worte saying it was not good enough so I wrote back saying I felt my offer was extremelt generous being that we have priority debts and other creditors to take into account. I am still awaiting their reply to that one.

I am now in the process of writing another letter to them as they have sent out an I&E form to us even though we're with the CCCS. Fun and games.

Di, just a note, my account has apparently been with the CDR for over a year and they are still adding interest.

Sadly I don't get the surestart grant till after the baby comes as I'm not entitled to WTC and the JSA that OH gets is contribution and not income based. Ridiculous how that works but that's another rant!

I can see this rumbling on for years as well. They lent money to a single man living at home with no outgoings and now he has other commitments there's no way, unless he was on around 25k a year (unlikely to happen) he could ever afford a full repayment.

Hi hun, that just isn't on is it, when they state like on the letter I received above they will freeze, If you have any letters like the one above, contact them and then if they continue to take these charges, put in a complaint, because its so mis leading and of course then try reclaiming on the charges later, this is what I am going to do, within a month they have taken almost £200, everything as arranged has all been moved to the new bank now, like the benefits etc, which they have been taking the payments from them.
I know they are very difficult, but write to them to ask if you've not done so already why they are still taking out these charges, when you know once they are with CDR you have been informed they freeze them.;)

They have never actually informed me that they will freeze the interest. They just told me I will pay a higher over all interest on a DMP as the interest is calculated on the whole balanced owed daily.

I have written a letter complaining that in essence all I have been paying off my debt for the past 2 years is £63 a month instead of the £217 I pay. I have yet to receive a response but I have given them 14 days to reply.

When I moved accounts from Lloyds I cut up our bank cards and shredded our cheque book and sent them back to Lloyds recorded delivery.
  • as usual its the poor that get screwed by these highway robbers, when you owe the bank a few grand you have a problem, if you owe the bank hundreds of thousands they have the problem!

The rich always can use smart lawyers to work for them and get a great deal, the rest struggle.

Government needs to provide much more assistance here, after all they fooked up the economy big time with their reckless Labour schemes that went belly up. The sooner Brown goes the better!
