Dell Dimension 1100 Desktop 3.06 Ghz with 17" LCD, low as £331.10

Options
Been searching for a Dell Desktop deal with a 17" Flat Monitor and came across this.

E-Value code D04113a gives you the following system with 15" Ultrasharp Monitor for £292.58 but this can be upgraded to 17" for £356.03.

Using the EPP site as mentioned in the laptop thread these come as low as £272.09 (15") and £331.10 (17") respectively (https://www.dell.co.uk/epp).

The 17" system is as follows:

Intel® Celeron® D Processor 345 (3.06GHz, 533fsb, 256K cache)
Genuine Windows® XP Home Edition, SP2
512MB Dual Channel DDR400 (2x256MB)
Dell Entry Quietkey USB Keyboard - UK/Ire (QWERTY)
Dell 17" UltraSharp™ Digital/Analogue High Quality Flat Panel for crystal clear images (1707FP)
Video Card Integrated Intel® Extreme Graphics
80GB (7,200rpm) Hard Drive
Dell USB 2 Button Wheel Mouse
CD/DVD Drives 48x CD ROM Drive

I realise there have been cheaper 17" deals in the past but I've checked all Dimension 1100 and 3100 value codes and this appears to be the best current 17" deal although the CD Drive would have to be upgraded.

What do people think of this deal, are the ultra-sharp monitors better and do you think a better 17" deal is on the horizon?

Your thoughs would be appreciated.

Thanks

If you're prepared to pay £356 for an 1100 desktop I suggest you'd be MILES better off saving up and getting one of the 5150s for just £439 with a 19" TFT included instead.
    Cheers :D

    Hi
It all depends on what you want it for, if just for browsing the internet or typing documents then its fine.

If you want one for gaming then you need the Dell 5150 or 9150, these have a dedicated graphic card slot, so it can be upgraded in the future.

    Hope this helps

I dont want it for gaming but I do use several applications at once fairly often.

What are the differences between the 1100's 3100's and the rest if they have similar processes. Im not bothered about a pentium as celeron's are cheaper and im looking to pay aroung £300.

Does anyone know if the Ultrasharp dell monitors are substantially better than the mainstram ones.

    Many Thanks
