You are just assuming worst case scenario and making out that its normal. There can often be no initial charge or just a very small one.Low cost SIPPs don't have annual charges or initial charges.
Over 90% of SIPPs post A day utilise investment funds that do have charges. If the OP is planning to use direct investments. Your recommended provider in HL has annual management charges. Charges that are typically higher than a personal pension in drawdown.
For many people, the difference between using HL or an IFA is zero to a couple of hundred pounds at the start depending on their fund size and if they want a professional portfolio.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA).
