Those really high amounts I do not believe are genuine for one moment. They are likely shill bidders, fun artists or auction-wreckers as I think many are fake and some are taking the "p" in a few of those listings (take a look!).

A few hundred pounds seems realistic at the moment!

But what are you intending on doing with yours Iquit??

I'm undecided at the moment, will just hold on to them. Maybe on the anniversary of my 6 years post BR will try and sell them then. Anything I get over their face value will be a bonus.

Oh dear. Read the 20p page and weep a little. Currently the London Mint has offered to buy them for £50 each. This does not mean that they are valued at £50 each or more... That bit is a marketing ploy....

So perhaps you should see if you can sell one to the london mint for £50 and keep the other just in case there really is any value to them!

I've given your offer due consideration but based on the current market I must decline as it does not meet the competition :rotfl::rotfl:

They may be, but I am not so sure.

Rare coins are always collectable, they may not warrant that price tag now, but if the Mint removes all those returned for £50, as implied they are trying to do, they may well soon be worth a lot more.

Those bids may be a fake, but may also be someone who is seeing a possible investment.

It is not often the Royal Mint makes a mistake, so the potential value in the future is there; it is just a question of how far in the future it may be to realize that level of investment.

Like any collectable item, they are only worth what someone is willing to pay, and that is always an unknown quantity.
They claim their labours are to build a heaven, yet their heaven is populated with horrors. Perhaps the world is not made, perhaps nothing is made?
Its too late, always has been, always will be.
    Too late!

It not the Royal Mint who made them, who are trying to remove them; they are happy for them to remain in circulation. Its the London Mint - a total commercial organisation who are buying them for some reason.

And for what its worth, I would keep any of these 20ps safe on the off chance!

Its the 1983 NEW PENNY (2p) coin that you really want to find.
