What happens if you dont pay DCAs?!

I find that DCAs take a long time to follow through with whatever action they threaten to take- maybe you have some time to think it through and discuss it further with your partner and possibly the DCA. Not sure if speaking to the DCA is acknowledging the debt but I don't think so.

I had got that information from the old nationaldebtline site - the new page doesn't seem to mention that you must be domiciled in the UK for the debt to become statute barred.
It is not clear cut that every debt after 6 years becomes statute barred. If the debtor deliberatley made themselves unavailable, then the judge could rule in favour of the creditor. It would all come down to whether they could prove that it was deliberate. This would be the same for leaving the country or just ignoring the debt. After falling off the gambling wagon (twice): £33,600 (24,000+ 9,600) - Original CC Debt: £7,885.91

Chigley, I fully appreciate that you have your own opinion but with a moto of 'Never a borrower nor a lender be!' (not at all appropriate for this forum) it would appear to me that you have no genuine reason to be taking part in a DFW chat, other than to specifically be antagonistic.
I belive this is called Trolling.
Back to the debt issues.
Thanks for the info on the statute barred, I have gone back and realised that the last payment on this debt was made in 2004, making it 5 years old not 6.
I think I will write to the DCA and ask for the CCA before actually offering them a settlement.
If they are unable to provide a CCA and the debt is passed on again to another DCA is this considered correspondence/aknowledgement and I would then be unable to go down the statute barred route at a later date?
Can anyone please tell me what could happen if I continued to ignore the letters?
Thank you.0 -
Worst case scenario, they could apply for a CCJ from the courts.
At the top of any letters you send to the DCA, make sure it states (as most template letters on this site do) "I do not acknowledge any debt to your company or any organisation you claim to represent" (something like that anyway).
Do you know exactly when the last payment you made was?
You could try sending the 'prove it' letter first - they are required to prove that a debt is owed before they can seek payment. After this, if they start threatening even more you could issue a CCA request. They will probably produce a reproduction rather than the original but you can try to fight that nearer the time. After falling off the gambling wagon (twice): £33,600 (24,000+ 9,600) - Original CC Debt: £7,885.91

Actually, I would think my motto is most suitable for this forum, as if most posters lived by it, then surely they would not be in a financial mess, nor would there be a need for this forum - which in my opinion would be a good thing - but I guess life is not like that.
I am not a troll either, but would consider myself a voyer, as I only look in here occaisionally, and have to say I am staggered by the level of debt some people find themselves in.:TProud to have lived within my means all my life :T0 -
