Anyone know if this is still available? I am all out of Pimms!

If you can't find one of the Pimms copies (the Sainsbury version of which is the subject of legal action by Diageo, who own the Pimms brand and like to keep the price high), try this Cheat's Pimms recipe from the Times - indistinguishable from the real thing and vastly cheaper:

Mixing a Cheat’s Pimm’s is easy. All you need is to take a measure of a good strong 40 per cent gin, and for every measure of gin you pour into a tall glass or large jug, add a measure of red vermouth (French or Italian will do), plus a half measure of Orange Curaçao.

surely by ther time you've bought gin, vermouth and curacao you will have spent more than just buying a bottle of pimms?

Depends where you buy them. Triple Sec or any similar orange liqueur will do just as well as curacao, by the way. Likely to be a lot cheaper than Pimms, but the own-brand equivalents that Diageo are getting so upset about are always going to be the best value.
  • I haven't been able to buy the Aldi version for months now; anyone know of an Aldi that has it in stock??
  • Looks like they've discontinued it :S i spoke to a deputy manager in store today and that was her take on it anyway. Had some in the cupboard for two months and only opened it today- exactly the same taste!gutted that i missed the chance to get more :(

They only sell it in the Spring and Summer. You might still find some knocking around in some stores, but if not it won't be back until next year.

Is it only me, then, that thinks the Aldi copy tastes like cough mixture??
  • If you're lucky enought to have a B and M near you, they're doing Stones Summer cup @ £2:99 which is an agreeable alternative, only 13.5 proof though. IIR Pimms is 20?

    Baz
