You have stated what network card you have (irrelevant) but not what PC you have!

Put your PC make and model number into Google to find out if it has Wifi.

A Wirless network card is different fron a Fast Ethernet Network Card.

Fast Ethernet is the little RJ45 square connector thing that slots into the back of your computer. Wireless will have an aerial.

So the chances are no you don't have wireless on your PC (not many PC's come with wireless). If you have a random aerial out the back then you may do!

Either way, you'd need to buy either a Wireless PCI card 802.11b or 802.11g (where g is better for wireless gaming), or a Wireless USB Adapter which runs at max 54mbps.. fine for every day use but not for mass downloading/gaming.

The wireless PCI can be installed like any other PCI card. Just slots into the place on the motherboard. Many tutorials of how to do it so it shouldnt be too hard. The usb adapter just plugs in so that may be a lot easier for some people.

    Hope ive helpd.

To find out if your PC has wireless, click Start - Run, type in msinfo32 and click OK. Expand Components - Network and click Adapter and look for the word 'wireless' in the Name or Product Type.

No mention of WiFi there! Sounds like you were told porkies!

If you double click on the Local Area Network icon in your system tray, you should see if there is any wireless device fitted!

    You could always try :-

    <Start>/<Connect to>/<Show All Connections>

There should be a Wireless Network Connection icon in here, right click and properties should show which device is being used for the connection.
