Tesco Personal Finance
Hi all,
I would just like to bring to your attention the excellent customer service I received from Tesco.
My wife applied for a loan of £7500 over 5 years to consolidate all our bits and bobs of debt we had accrued.
We had initially been declined for a few loans which really surprised us as my wife has an excellent credit rating. No defaults, CCJ's etc etc etc!!! I didn't apply as I have a default which is a very annoying thing from Orange several years ago.
When she applied, she was told an agreement in principle had been put through. We then received a call not 2 hours later saying the underwriters had declined it due to affordability. We couldn't understand why as affordability was NOT a problem at all!!! She explained this to the chap (Gareth I think his name was) and he looked a bit deeper and told us that they had found car finance totalling £500 a month. We explained that this was incorrect and that my wife had just part ex'd her car to get a new one settling the finance in the process. This had not cleared on her credit file. Gareth investigated this, which I feel is going above and beyond his duties and his words were, 'this is a rare problem'. He managed to convince the underwriters that we could afford it and low and behold, the loan was cleared and we have the funds through.
This may seem a bit of a strange thread, but I find we, as a mass are so quick to criticise companies when we don't get what we want that these threads are needed every now and again.
We now have our debt under control and have freed up some money in the process.
I would like to personally thank Tesco for being flexible and more importantly, being 'human'. A factor many companies have lost in recent years.
Let me know your thoughts on this and if you have had any similar experiences.

What does money do for you that doesn't end up hurting you?
