Nope I know an EA. Gazumping is illegal for a seller to do. The only way round it is getting the buyer to up their offer or taking the house off the market and accepting the offer from another perspective buyer.
(not nice but a lot of Sellers are doing it, and getting burnt EG sale at higher bid falls through:))
Since when?
As far as I'm aware, in England at least - don't know about Scotland, say - gazumping and its merry friend, gazundering are both 100% legal.
Not very nice, but totally legal.
I think you're EA friend is having a larf.0 -

Ditto.
So far as I am concerned/aware, gazumping isn't illegal at all. Neither is gazundering (or is that a p155pot?).0 -

My belief was that anything was allowed until exchange of contracts frm either party0 -
But that messes up Really's pretty argument.
What a shame.
I mean he'd never ever make things up to try to score a cheap point, would he?0 -
Sorry I did mean after contracts.
All houses stay SSTC untill compleated and beyond on places like rightmove etc.
I was not causing an argument just stating gazundering gazumping makes houses come back on the market.0 -
GOOD.
It stops chancers like you driving up prices.
no the trick is to make the purchase in cash - much quicker and you get a deal offer to completion within a couple of weeks.
sellers bite your hand off when you can do this. don't forget the cheaper price
you then take your time choosing the mortgage product and rate that suits and is the cheapest. there's no rush and you get the best deal.
good isn't it :beer:0 -
