Are house prices now affordable

I'm getting really bored of this average/mean/median argument now.
Indeed it means nothing.
Somebody on the dole can afford a house if they have inherited a load of money.
Someone on £100k a year could not buy if they had a mountain of personal debt.
in general on this site we have no real idea of affordability.
I think 10M are on over the average wage
That makes a big dent in the housing stock if you remove all the properties that have retired people in or are paid for.
I don't have an idea what affordability is by the average figures but the way of working it out is not just matching average wage to average house price, simply because it ignores rental, stock etc.0
